Founded in 1989 by master mechanical engineer Gerd Lorenzen, the company originally began with repair and maintenance work in the fishing industry. Due to growing demand, the company soon expanded its product range to other sectors.
The portfolio was expanded to include the construction of commercial kitchens, the manufacture of wind turbines, the construction of new fishing trawlers and the construction of combined heat and power plants. Today, the company has 40 employees and successfully serves customers from industry, the power plant sector and wind energy.

Our
History
1989
Maschinenbau Lorenzen was founded in 1989 by master mechanical engineer Gerd Lorenzen, based in the port town of Husum on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein, and initially dedicated itself to the fishing industry. The original and traditional field of activity is the maintenance and repair of engines and plant components in maritime shipping as well as the processing of stainless steel.
1993
The product range was further expanded and so the production of components for general steel construction as well as for plant construction followed, such as the manufacture and installation of large stainless steel kitchens or the construction of stairs and railings for passenger ships.
1995
Since then, we are proud that the number of our reference projects is constantly growing. Contractors, builders, architects, planners and engineers from all over Germany value our expertise and experience. Due to strong demand, the product range was soon expanded to include other sectors, the company premises were extended and a second hall was acquired.
In the following years, orders from the industrial sector were also processed.

2004
The development and production of power generation systems based on combined heat and power generation, which began in 2004, was a logical step towards the use of renewable energy sources.
The engine of the combined heat and power plant, which runs on liquid gas, natural gas, biogas or diesel, produces electricity via a generator. The heat from the exhaust gas and the cooling water is decoupled via heat exchangers and made available to the consumer.

2007
Due to our location directly adjacent to the harbor, we are also active in the maintenance and repair of engines and equipment parts for motor ships and fishing vessels. In particular, we focus on hydraulic system components from pressure generation and distribution to hydraulic drives.
In addition to the execution of various ship conversions and ship upgrades as well as the manufacture of stainless steel processing lines for fish processing, complete turnkey ship newbuilds are also produced.

2008
With the start of series production of components for wind turbines, the company has successfully demonstrated its capabilities as a supplier in terms of quality, flexibility and delivery reliability.
In the production program, all necessary machining operations are carried out in-house. Project planning, design, construction, technical drawings and the production of documentation and specifications are all carried out in-house.

2010
Due to the ever-increasing growth of the company, further expansion was required in 2010:
The existing 2nd hall was replaced by a new, larger hall. As a result of this innovation, various new machines and additional new employees could be deployed. Due to the high demand in the power plant and wind energy sectors and the large volume of orders, a considerable team was built up.

2011
Design and manufacture of a fully automatic 14 m long crab sorting system, with integrated filling system and weighing device, eccentric-guided sorting via 5 sieve levels.

Initial planning and development work for the production of an innovative pyrolysis system.

Design, planning and production of a turning device.
The turning device serves as an assembly aid for the completion of a component weighing up to 150 tons. The component is inserted into the turning device and connected to the drive units via chains on both sides. The component can thus be rotated 360° at the touch of a button into an optimum position for assembly.
